Teacher Training
MHCHS has successfully trained teachers through PGCE programmes for many years, working with Middlesex University, UCL IOE, Goldsmiths and Greenwich University. ITT is embedded in our school, providing student teachers with quality mentoring and a very effective wide ranging Professional Studies Programme which is based on the government’s Core content Framework. We also work with Alliances such as Aim, New River and Hillingdon SCITT to successfully train student teachers through School Direct in close partnership with partner universities. Many student teachers who train with us are successful in gaining permanent teaching posts in our school.
AIM School Direct:
We are currently offering teacher training through the Tuition Fee Route, which often attracts some level of bursary depending on what you want to teach and your degree qualification. You do not have to be a recent graduate to receive a bursary.
You pay tuition fees, either from student finance, your savings or your bursary, and at the end of the course you will either receive a PCGE or 60 credits towards a Masters, as well as qualified teacher status (QTS).
Vacancies for teacher training can be found on the Aim Alliance website or UCAS. All applications are processed via UCAS.
In your training year you will be working at Middlesex University one day a week with 4 days in school. We will have a second setting placement of 6 weeks in a contrasting school in the second term, then you complete your training back at MHCHS.
You will be fully supported throughout your training benefitting from:
- A dedicated quality mentor
- HOD support and subject tutor support
